AA batteries or coin cells?
AA sets are generally easier to replenish and commonly power the longer strings here. Coin cells allow much smaller boxes, which can be useful behind a jar or compact decoration.
Small does not mean maintenance-free. Jsdoin’s six strings use two CR2032 cells each: twelve cells across the complete pack. Consider access, replacement and disposal alongside the initial setup.
A practical note on coin-cell safety
Coin and button batteries can cause severe injury if swallowed, particularly for children and pets. Keep spare and used cells securely out of reach, ensure compartments stay properly closed and secured, follow the manufacturer’s instructions, and recycle used cells appropriately.

Where will the battery box go?
Behind a shelf ornament can work; sealed inside a difficult-to-open display can be frustrating. Leave access for the switch, battery changes and any timer setup. Measure the unlit lead rather than assuming the box can reach a convenient hiding place.

Why a timer can matter more than another fifty LEDs
A repeating timer limits unnecessary operating time and saves reaching a hidden switch every evening. Ollny 100 and Lepro globe both specify six hours on and eighteen off.
Check how the selected model starts or resets its cycle. A timer is not a runtime guarantee, and undocumented controls on simpler sets remain undocumented.
How long will the batteries last?
Battery chemistry, capacity and quality, brightness, mode, LED count and temperature all affect runtime. We do not calculate an evening count from LED quantity alone.

When mains or USB makes more sense
For many hours of daily use near a convenient socket, a powered set avoids repeatedly replacing cells. Battery power buys placement freedom; it does not remove ongoing maintenance.
